In 1994, the Morgan Council contacted our president, with a view of preserving and resurrecting the facilities and track, at the then Morgan Mile Motorcycle Track, situated on Burra Road, MORGAN. As a result, after negotiations with the Council, it was agreed that we should form an incorporated motorcycle club, to provide services to people within the Morgan and surrounding districts.

In 1995, the Morgan MotorCycle Club was formed, with its main aim being to promote motorcycling within the Riverland and Barossa area, and provide a legal and safe facility for offroad motorcyclists to use. Primarily, this was aimed at addressing the ever increasing problem being encountered with offroad motorcycles being ridden on reserves, conservation parks and other similar areas, where massive destruction was being caused to the native vegetation and wildlife.

After the formation of the Morgan Motorcycle Club, the Morgan Council handed the facilities over to us in the form of a free pepper corn lease, and undertook to assist in the development of the new club and improving the facilities. The club initially ran three long track events over three years, in an attempt to rejuvenate "The Morgan Mile" tradition, however it was soon found that long track speedway events were a thing of the past and proved unsuccessful. As a result, a motocross track was designed and constructed in the middle of the long track, with careful planning to ensure the Morgan Mile track was preserved as best as possible.

In 2004 the old Canteen facilities were run down and not at up to health standards with break-ins were occurring monthly. The committee decided to erect a brand new canteen and a reinforced mesh storage area with a veranda was chosen as our best option. New bench tops, sink, glass front fridges, BBQ and exhaust fans all added to a first class user friendly facility. This building was built and paid for entirely by members of Morgan MCC.

The canteen proved to be a great success as our club hosted the first Sidecar Spectacular in March 2004. 82 sidecars (rider & passenger) from all over Australia turned up for what was then to be the biggest Motocross Sidecar event ever held in Australia.

In November 2006 an Australian sidecar-cross titles were run, the first for 12 years. Competitors from overseas and within Australia competed in an estimated 150 strong sidecar event.

The purchase of an eighty horse power John Deer Loader insured the track to be in A1 condition and above all safe as it's ever been. The seventeen thousand dollar price tag was a concern for several members, but track safety was paramount, so the purchase went ahead. A small loan for a 12 month period was secured, so no financial stress would be placed on club and committee.

Members are wide spread, coming from all over South Australia and Mildura.

In 2007, the Morgan MCC with the generous support of Motorcycling South Australia, obtained a second loan and commenced the construction of a new toilet/shower block with a storage shed attached to enclose the truck and tractor. This building was completed in early 2008.

The support of the Mid Murray Council has been invaluable since our inception the club, resulting in the racing calendar which holds monthly race meetings from March through to November each year.

Clearly the current success of the Morgan MCC must be accredited to the hard working committee members, club members, family atmosphere, and most importantly to the man they all call "Cowboy", for if it wasn"t for the tireless work and commitment of Lindsay "Cowboy" Way, many believe the club would not be where it is now.
